THANK THE LORD that spring is upon us! I mean, sure it’s pretty much been summertime on and off for the past three months here in Charlotte. But now I can finally stop playing guessing games with the weather and rock some spandex! So since less clothing = more speed, I’m kicking off my favorite season with some shorter distance races to see if my wheels are still working. And then once I’ve mustered up some momentum, I’m racing into the summer with a bang.
I’ve been taking my races a bit too seriously lately, so I think it’s time I reward myself with a good ‘ol fun run. Four miles. Lots of leprechauns. No pressure. (Even though I’m secretly hoping to get lucky with a podium finish, complete with pot of gold.🍀 ) Irish you would join me!
This race has become a bit of a tradition for me: it’s Charleston’s most notorious climb in the South’s most beautiful city. Yes, the bridge is pretty unforgiving, but that feeling when you cross over it into the rainbow-colored holy city is indescribable. Plus, it totally earns you permission to be a beach bum for the rest of the day. 🏖️ Think you can handle the hill? Sign up here!
No, I didn’t attend CPCC and neither do I know anyone who did. But somehow over the past 2 years, this race has found a very special place in my heart. Why exactly? Because the first time I ran it, I walked home with a 1st place finish and an Omega Sports gift card. Then last year, my 2nd place finish scored me a souped-up Clinique gift basket. 🙌 So this year, I’m gunnin’ for a three-peat and, I don’t know, a first place Ferrari!? I dare you to challenge me.
Guys, I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for this race. I’ve been dreaming of every detail for over 6 months now since I booked my rustic AirBnB: the scenic rolling hills, the majestic Biltmore castle, and of course, Asheville’s post race bar scene. 🍻 Wanna raise a glass to that?
